Computer Clean-Up

and General Housekeeping

by Constance Pru Unwin

REJUVENATE, FEEL BETTERREJUVENATE, FEEL BETTER, Look Younger, Cleanse, Moisturise, Nourish – the words flowed off the advert, Constance Pru Unwin sighed, “if only it was possible for me”. Instead of which a hard day at work lay ahead. In fact, every day seemed to be getting harder, and everything took twice as long. 110% she liked to give, but could only muster about 80% these days.

Oh, if only the words flowing from that Internet page could apply to her, but no, she blamed textiles in every shape and form, all the downloads from the Internet, free CDs loaded off magazine covers, and the children sneaking in to play games. So much to do. Life hadn’t always been like this for Constance Pru Unwin. When she was young, she zipped along, performed marvelously, Olympic Champion she was, one of the fastest operators out of the box. The Queen of her era.

Her owner would just not understand, and that advert would never apply to her. What would it take to get that message through? Perhaps she could write her own Internet memo and place it on the screen. Perhaps her cries for help and blue screen fits were not getting the message through at all.

Constance Pru Unwin needed help, and fast. A list of what she needed, that’s what she’d do. She would call a meeting with her friends and colleagues. They had to act and act fast. And so she started.

The following is what she and her friends came up with. This short series of articles will introduce the reader to the concept of the clean computer, and the benefits in spending a little time each day to tidy up as you go along. It’s just a bit like good housekeeping.
