I’LL BEGIN WITH all the plus points and refer to any drawbacks later to keep your attention. The biggest of the plus points is of course the lack of cost and Gimp 2.0, which is also known as GNU Image Manipulation Program, is a stable piece of software which rivals Photoshop in many ways.Fig 3 - Result of Whirl and Pinch filter

It has a lot more extra applications than Photoshop Elements, and on opening Gimp you’re treated to Tip of the Day.

It has many of the same features that we are used to in Photoshop Elements, plus some great Filters and Script-Fu’s to play with. Script-Fu’s are sets of actions which change the original image with the result showing up at the top of the Layers Palette. They cannot be undone, but this is overcome by selecting the layer and clicking on the Wastebin.
